Management of Potentially Hazardous Materials

The monitoring and management of hazardous materials containing asbestos entails:

  • the definition of an inspection and maintenance programme in order to reduce occupants’ exposure and the fibre release risk to a minimum as set forth by Ministerial Decree 6.9.94;
  • the regular inspection of the conditions of the materials containing asbestos in order to prevent the release and secondary dispersion of fibres;
  • The implementation of measures planned for the correct maintenance of the materials identified;

Phases

  • Preparation of the Management Plant of potentially hazardous Materials;
    • preparation of suitable documentation,
    • information to the occupants,
    • verification of the correct safety precautions and procedures for maintenance, cleaning activities, etc.
  • Identification of a person with specific responsibility;
  • Sampling of airborne fibres;
  • Relationships with authorities;
  • Regular Inspection;

Output

  • Indication on the state of preservation of materials;
  • Analytical certificates of airborne fibre samples;
  • Paper floor plans with location of the materials;
  • Ordinary/extraordinary maintenance procedures for materials.
